👂🐍 What's that sound? In an attempt to ward off potential predators, the lance head rattlesnake will vibrate a series of loose-fitting, interlocking scales at the base of its tail. The edges of the scales rub against one another to create the rattlesnake's characteristic sound.

We are sad to report that Reuben, our 23 year old male howler monkey, was euthanized earlier today. His caring team recognized that he was failing due to chronic kidney disease. A resident of the Small Mammal House for 18 years, he will be greatly missed.
